Escapade Kiamika aims to showcase the cultural and historical richness of the Laurentians—especially the Kiamika region—through an ambitious project: the Laurentians History Museum!
In collaboration with the Société d’histoire et de généalogie des Hautes-Laurentides (SHGHL), our mission is to highlight the stories of the first inhabitants, settlers, and pioneers who shaped this vast and vibrant territory known as the Laurentians.

To bring this unique initiative to life, we aim to tell and share the epic story of the pioneers who forged their path through these vast, once-wild lands. We’ll begin with a few key figures who shaped the history of the Laurentians, presented through a historical trail.
Among them is Tomkin, a member of the Algonquin community who, over a century ago, settled with his family along the shores of the lake that now bears his name. Another section will honor Kiamika’s early settlers, including Joseph Guérin. The development of forestry will be represented by Jos Montferrand (1802–1864), a legendary logging foreman at Ferme Rouge. A fourth, female figure—such as Madeleine Godard—will embody the vital role of women who made great sacrifices to ensure education for future generations.
Historical content, curated by the local historical and genealogical society (SHGHL), will be brought to life through artifacts, slideshow projections, audio recordings, and video capsules featuring local witnesses and renowned regional historians. As its name suggests, the Laurentians History Museum will share stories through historical characters—while also embracing folk beliefs and legends rooted in lived experience.
The official opening is scheduled for Fall 2025.
